Sudden Hero
Exciting Grade 2, G Major, 2/4
Sudden Hero is a G-Major piece written in a lively 2/4, with straight-forward rhythms throughout. It features the frequent passing around of melodic material, allowing for each section to become the “hero” of the piece. Help your students listen for “the hero” and encourage them to bring out the melody whenever they have it.
The 1st violins are encouraged to use III position from m.80-89, as well as II position for cellos from m.71-75. The staccato markings are intended to be fairly short, but with some weight to them. Watch out for the interweaving ties in the ending. The counting will take some work, but the payoff resolutions are worth it!
I hope you and your students enjoy Sudden Hero!
