I'm Kevin Sluder, and I've been teaching and composing since 2007
I am a Texas string orchestra director in the DFW area and have been teaching in the public school system since 2007. My middle school
program in Frisco, TX was named the 2024 TMEA JH/MS Full Honor Orchestra.
Born and raised in Mansfield, TX, I obtained my bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of North Texas in Denton.
A bass player by trade, I also have experience in percussion and guitar, with a deep love of rhythm.
Outside of the classroom, I spend a great deal of time composing and arranging music. I also run two podcasts. Rite of String, co-hosted with
Matthew Moreno, is focused on string education. SluderMusic is a showcase of my published pieces. In addition to my work in the “classical” world, I have written and recorded several albums that are available on most streaming services.
I currently reside in McKinney, TX with Bethany Hardwick, an amazing director and inclusion orchestra pioneer. In my limited spare time, I enjoy running, camping, and playing video games.
